Leatherman folding knives have a couple of features to make it easier to open the blade. The blade has a small knob near the pivot, to help lever the blade open quickly. Some models also have a blade launcher: a small knurled button on the back side of the pivot point. It serves the same purpose.
The opening knob and the blade launcher both require practice, if you want to flick the blade open with one hand. The blade needs to be very well lubricated, and it is still a tough skill to master. It is not legal to sell switch-blades and other assisted-opening devices, so this is about as far as Leatherman can go legally, to have a fast-opening blade!
