The Victorinox and Wenger 1980 Soldier Swiss Army knives are a 93mm / 3 1/2" ribbed alox knife, with a 1980 date on the blade tang. This model was standard issue for the Swiss army during 1980. Soldier knives with an 80 date have a hollow rivet, a cutting notch in the bottle opener, and a square box for the Waffenkontrolle inspection stamp. Victorinox knives have a polished blade, while Wengers are matte without visible striations (a change from the 1979 Soldier). Similar tools continue on the subsequent 1981 Soldier.
