Victorinox Spartan Knife |
|
The Victorinox Spartan Swiss Army Knife features the eight most basic Swiss Army tools. The Spartan is the most popular of the full-sized knives from Victorinox, and it's probably what most people think of as the "standard" Swiss Army knive. This pocket tool weighs in at a mere 59 grams (a bit more than 2 ounces) and 13mm thick (1/2"), and it's carefully engineered so the knife can be relatively compact, yet useful in a wide range of situations. NOTE-- This page only covers the standard red Spartan knife. There are separate pages for other colors (including black, ruby, sapphire, and a few retired colors).
Spartan knives are standard sized Swiss Army knives (3 1/2" / 91mm). They contain the following tools:
HINT-- If you don't use a toothpick or tweezers very often, consider the similar Weekender knive. You'll save about a dollar, and get a slightly lighter and sturdier knife. A history note-- early versions of the Spartan knife actually came without the toothpick and tweezers. Later on, Victorinox added the toothpick and tweezers, and then renamed the original Spartan to the Weekender. Some other varieties of the Spartan pocket knife:
