The Victorinox Spartan Swiss Army Knife features the eight most basic Swiss Army tools. This allows the knife to be relatively compact, yet useful in a wide variety of situations.

Until 2009, Spartans were available in ruby and sapphire (in addition to the traditional black and red knives). We also see an occasional used knife in one of the older retired colors-- including white, solid blue and camoflage. The retired colors are rarer, and sell at a premium.
