The Victorinox Beginner Swiss Army knife is a retired, rare and collectible model. It has the same tools as the modern Sentry knife, but it is smaller (just 3" / 74mm).

Sentry-- same tools with plastic scales, slightly larger (3 1/4" / 84mm)
Student-- adds small blade (retired & rare)

The Beginner Alox knife is available only in red shells.

NOTE-- The similar, two-blade Student pocket knife was produced in a variety of materials, including ribbed aluminum alox, stainless steel, and imitation tortoise shell. It's possible that the Beginner was also produced in more than one form, but so far we have only seen it in plain red scales.
