Wenger Bottle Opener

The bottle opener/screwdriver combination on mid-sized and larger Swiss Army knives from Wenger combines the following features:

  • Bottle Opener
  • Large Straight-Blade Screwdriver
  • Wire Stripper (using the small notch near the base of the blade).

This blade works moderately well for various other scraping and prying functions.

If you use excessive force when turning very large screws, it's possible to warp the blade mount (which will give it some "wiggle", and may make it more difficult to close the blade).

If you frequently use this blade to drive screws, you may want to grind the end to be more square, so it can get better grip in the slot of the screw. However the factory finish works fairly well for most screws, and is less likely to cut your hands during casual use.
