The bottle opener/screwdriver combination on mid-sized and larger Swiss Army knives from Victorinox combines the following features:
This blade works moderately well for various other scraping and prying functions. WARNING-- If you use excessive force when turning very large screws, it's possible to warp the blade mount (which will give it some "wiggle", and may make it more difficult to close the blade). If you frequently use this blade to drive screws, you may want to grind the end to be more square, so it can get better grip in the slot of the screw. However the factory finish works fairly well for most screws, and is less likely to cut your hands during casual use. Other Bottle Openers Some of the larger 4 1/4" / 111mm Victorinox knives have a more massive bottle opener that works better for driving large screws (or opening jumbo bottles of beer). A few Victorinox Swiss Army knives include a combination bottle opener/can opener that is sharpened on the side. There is also a very similar bottle opener on the SwissTool. The Wenger Swiss Army knives include a similar bottle opener (some have a combination bottle and can opener.) Many of the Leatherman tools also include a can opener or a combination bottle and can opener. |
