description |
| With
the Wave, Leatherman began producing blades that could be opened
quickly, while the tool was still closed. These blades feature
liner-locking mechanisms for increased safety and face the outside
of the knife when open, so they are easier to use in tight quarters.
In 2001, Leatherman added ridges to the back of the Wave's serrated
blade to differentiate its feel from the
straight
blade. This blade lacks those ridges, so it is more difficult
to tell which blade is which without looking closely.
On the Original Wave, these blades are 2 3/4 inches (70mm) long.
